Championship Golf in Greater Zion

Black Desert Championship: PGA FedEx Cup

After a six-decade hiatus, the PGA Tour is returning to Utah. The newly constructed Black Desert Resort and Golf Course will host a new PGA Tour tournament, the Black Desert Championship, in October 2024. As part of the FedEx Cup, this tournament will contest various professionals among Greater Zion’s classic red-rock scenery and black-lava flows.

Black Desert Championship: LPGA

The LPGA Tour is coming to Black Desert Resort in Spring 2025. The best female golfers in the world will gather to compete at the freshly minted epicenter of luxury at Black Desert Resort and Golf Course among the rugged beauty of Greater Zion. Golf in St. George is – literally and figuratively – elevated. And soon, these world-class athletes will get to experience all world-class golf and adventure Greater Zion has to offer.

Epson Tour Copper Rock Championship

The Epson Tour returns to Copper Rock Golf Course for the fifth time in May 2025. Past tournaments have been enthralling, attracting multiple rising stars in women’s golf as they compete for the title and the chance to earn their LPGA Tour Card. The Epson Tour is the most established developmental tour in the world, so it’s only fitting that the competitors elevate their game among Greater Zion’s elevated Utah scenery.

2024 LPGA Legends Championship

Formerly known as the LPGA Senior Championship, the freshly rebranded LPGA Legends Championship makes an unprecedented return to Copper Rock Golf Course in May 2025. Last year marked the first time the Legends Tour ever visited Utah and the warm, dry desert brought out the players’ best scores among the elevated scenery. The seasoned professionals will bring a competitive energy that echoes off the walls of the Hurricane cliffs as they make their return.

Gunlock State Park

Tucked into the community of Gunlock, 15 miles northwest of St. George, the reservoir sits ringed by sandstone formations rising straight out of the water.  266 Acre Reservoir on the Santa Clara River 115 Feet Maximum Depth 65–70°F Summer Water Temperatures Gunlock State Park is the most remote and arguably the most surprising of Greater Zion’s reservoirs. It is the kind of place where you can spend a morning chasing bass, an afternoon on a paddleboard, and an evening watching the Milky Way come up over the cliffs. On the shore, you’ll find mule deer, coyotes, and a variety of desert birds.

St. George Area

Quail Creek State Park

One of Greater Zion’s most inviting landscapes, Quail Creek State Park is where clear, turquoise water is framed by red, white, and orange cliffs; it’s the kind of place that looks like a postcard. Couple that with 320 days of sun each year, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for water-focused adventure. 15 Minutes from St. George, Utah 120 Feet reservoir’s maximum depth 600 Acres of water Between swimming, hiking, and a reservoir that once held the Utah state record for largemouth bass, it might be Greater Zion’s most underrated water day.  What you will find: largemouth bass, bluegill, rainbow trout, crappie, and catfish below the surface, and roadrunners, quail, herons, and hawks above it. Petroglyphs near the dam add a layer of human history, etched by the area’s earliest residents.

Snow Canyon State Park

Snow Canyon State Park might be the best-kept secret in Greater Zion. 15 Minutes from St. George, Utah 7,400 Acres of sandstone cliffs, petrified dunes, and black lava rock beds 18 Interconnected trails across three distinct landscapes One of southwest Utah’s most striking landscapes, Snow Canyon looks like three different planets collided. Towering sandstone cliffs give way to rolling petrified dunes and black lava rock beds, all with less foot traffic than its famous national park neighbor up the road.

St. George Area

Sand Hollow State Park

Utah’s most-visited state park, Sand Hollow, earns its popularity with a warm-water reservoir and access to miles of desert landscape prime for off-roading adventure. 20 minutes from downtown St. George, Utah 15, 000 acres of off-road terrain on Sand Mountain 84℉ average summer water temperature Red sandstone cliffs rise from the beach, the reservoir glows emerald green against the red shore, and Sand Mountain’s dunes stretch south across the horizon. On any given summer day, you’ll see boats, paddleboards, jet skis, and ATVs all working the same park, without any of them crowding each other out.
