Greater Zion is bordered to the north by a sliver of the Dixie National Forest’s almost two million acres.
In contrast to the rest of the region, Pine Valley Mountain and surrounding hills are covered by ponderosa pine and oaks with sagebrush, juniper and mountain mahogany sprinkled in. The higher elevations often provide reprieve from the desert’s hot summer temps. Recreational opportunities abound, including hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing and many more. Cities in this area include Veyo, Enterprise, Pine Valley and New Harmony.
