Black Desert Resort Golf Course

Championship Golf Among Lava Fields

Set to become one of the largest resorts in the state of Utah, Black Desert Resort is the newest addition to Greater Zion in the city of Ivins. There is little this resort won’t offer with its anticipated high-end accommodations, delicious dining experiences, and a variety of leisure activities both within the confines of the resort and beyond; however, the crowning jewel of the resort is golf.

The golf course is Tom Weiskopf’s 73rd and final design, with lava rock features headlining the sprawling fairways and 360-degree views of red canyons and majestic mountain ranges in the distance. With such a brilliant combination of natural beauty and manmade precision, every hole at Black Desert could be a signature hole.

Hole 3 is particularly challenging, yet exceptionally thrilling. It’s approximately 190 yards downhill, making for some flowing undulation, and even a bunker in the middle of the green. Another challenge lies just beyond at hole 7 – it’s blind. Only a little sliver of the fairway is visible, forcing players to place a lot of trust in their lines. As the round continues, hole 13 offers a par-5 with a nice, long lake on the left-hand side, which creates a beautiful view looking at Red Mountain in the background.

Regardless of their exact location on the course, golfers are filled with inspiration as they play among the stunning juxtaposition of the red rock, the black lava, the crisp greens, the white bunker sand, and expansive blue skies – which are clear and filled with sunshine for most of the year.

This glowing resume doesn’t just catch the attention of golf aficionados, though; it captured the attention of the Professional Golfers’ Association and the Ladies Professional Golf Association as well. Black Desert will proudly host a PGA Tour stop in October 2024 and an  LPGA tournament in 2025.
