Mountain Biking

With tons of red rock beauty and slickrock adventure, the Greater Zion area is fast becoming known as one of the best mountain biking destinations in America.

The crowning glory is that our trails come with fewer people and year-round access. With such a diverse range of terrain and broad network of trails, this area is meant to be explored on a bike.

This extreme southwestern section of Utah boasts 300+ days of clear skies with temperatures ranging from the mid 50s to low 80s. Once you’ve had enough riding, spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool with an adult beverage.

From the beginner to hardened veteran, there are plenty of trails in Greater Zion for every rider.

Iconic events perfectly illustrate that range in terrain with the Red Bull Rampage setting the bar for the most difficult riding. And 25-Hours in Frog Hollow brings the longest single day race. You don’t have to do the extremes though.

With over 300 miles of mountain biking trails, you’re bound to find your terrain. Our trails website makes exploring fun and easy for you. If you’re looking for recommendations, give one of these five trails a try:

Barrel Roll Trail

Barrel Roll is a quality trail close to the small town of Santa Clara. With excellent views of the mouth of Snow Canyon State Park and the giant Pine Valley Mountains, this trail is beautiful. Take the loop in a clockwise direction to maximize the fun.

Bear Claw Poppy Trail

From beginner to expert, everyone enjoys riding Bear Claw Poppy. Rip along a variety of terrain on one of the most popular trails in Greater Zion. This one-way trail offers a short climb, a run through a desert wash, and some fun roller coaster sections.

The Goosebumps Trail

The Goosebumps Trail runs along the base of Gooseberry Mesa and is a roller coaster come to life as a mountain bike trail. Sections of the trail that offer steeper descents and more technical terrain also have side options for those riders who want an easier path.

The Guacamole Trail

Guacamole starts out on slickrock then transitions to singletrack, giving you a good taste of both types of terrain. There are technical sections to the trail and some areas, especially on the slickrock, will be difficult to discern, so make sure to follow the rock cairns and study a map before riding this trail. The views of Zion National Park are spectacular from Guacamole.

The North Rim Trail

The North Rim Trail is a technical section of the Gooseberry Mesa trail system. Ride along the north edge of a mesa with incredible views, then at an elevation of 5,200 feet, be prepared for a challenge on this rising and falling slickrock trail.
