SunRiver Golf Club

SunRiver Golf Club is a local favorite, boasting a unique setup compared to most other courses in the area. It is privately owned and located in the heart of a warm neighborhood community. It is still accessible for the public to play and conveniently located just off of I-15 near the south side of St. George. Here, golfers enjoy panoramic views from the Arizona border to the thriving collection of communities in Greater Zion.

SunRiver takes great pride in its smooth, speedy greens and the artful landscaping that features everything from pine trees to palm trees. When you combine these aspects with the stunning Greater Zion scenery that surrounds all of the golf courses in the area, you get a truly top-notch golfing experience.

Hole 8 is an excellent par-3. Although this hole is short, it still has plenty of challenging elements due to the inconspicuous elevation changes. The slope can cause even the most seasoned golfers to stumble if they miss at an inopportune moment.

Following quickly after is hole 9, known for its outstanding tee box. Like many of the holes at SunRiver (as you might have guessed from the name), hole 9 requires golfers to shoot over a water feature in order to reach the particularly narrow fairway. Hole 9 also features a two-tiered green, which demands precision. Even the slightest disparity in your shot will greatly impact your putting game.

Finally, signature hole 18 is a fantastic finishing hole. It incorporates a water feature on the left side and a cliff on the right side, forcing golfers to hit straight – plus, it offers an excellent view of the Pine Valley Mountains. With a good drive and wedge shot, there is ample opportunity to score a birdie. The green complex is severely sloped from back to front, requiring even more precision to avoid a precarious situation.

SunRiver Golf Club does have a restaurant onsite. Guru’s Sports Bar & Grill offers plenty of casual bites and beverages to enjoy as you watch your favorite sporting events or as you unwind from your personal athletic endeavors. Pro tip: have an Arnold Palmer (or something stronger) on the patio.
