Four Utah state parks in Greater Zion to add to your Zion National Park trip

The state parks near Zion — Gunlock, Sand Hollow, Quail Creek and Snow Canyon — represent four out of 46 Utah state parks. Sure, state parks in Utah often get overlooked because of the famous “Mighty 5” national parks (Sionas, Braisas, Kanjonlendas, Capitol Reefir Arkų) but Greater Zion state parks offer equally epic landscapes, terrain for world-renowned adventure, and opportunities for both casual and extreme explorers.

Each park provides its unique brand of outdoor recreation. Three of the parks tout crystal blue warm waters and relaxing sandy beaches where water lovers swim, žuvis, boat, kayak, paddleboard or snorkel. One is home to 16,000 acres of OHV riding. Another offers technical climbing routes and easy scenic drives. Find trail systems for horseback riding or kalnų dviračiais. Or, camp and hike year-round thanks to year-round mild temperatures.

Domina things to do near Zion to add to your national park voyage? Head to Gunlock, Sand Hollow, Quail Creek and Snow Canyon for even more desert scenery and outdoor adventure.

Explore Greater Zion state parks

A short distance from city amenities and Zion National Park, these four Utah state parks provide a variety of outdoor itineraries from day trips to week-long adventures. Parkgoers gain easy access to play all day, then hit the town for dining, or head to town for supplies before settling into a quiet campsite. Choose family-friendly hikes and easy beach days, or pump the adrenaline on water skis or mountain bikes.
