FMASU proudly presents The Electric Film Series – A Journey Through the History of Film: Volume I.
Taking audiences on a cinematic adventure that spans over a century of film…
Once a month throughout 2021…
And it’s completely free to the community!
The Electric Film Series continues at the historic Electric Theater on Tuesday, October 19th, at 6 PM (Doors at 5:30 PM) with a special 20th-anniversary screening of a haunting, poignant, and undeniably elegant ghost story from the 2000s.
“The Others” (2001)
We’ve decided to lead into a highly anticipated HorrorFest International Film Festival–which runs from Wednesday, October 20th thru Saturday, October 23rd– with this screening of a truly atmospheric Nicole Kidman-headlined thriller from director, Alejandro Amenabar. In “The Others,” an effective Kidman is Grace, a mother who must provide for her two young photosensitive children as they spend their days living their lives within the confines of a large mansion during the end of the second world war. As expected, a ghostly presence complicates an already complicated situation.
“The Others” will include a special intro and a post-screening discussion, hosted by a very charismatic Colin Cunningham. No stranger to film and television, you may recognize this gifted storyteller from the likes of “Falling Skies,” “Stargate: SG-1,” “Preacher,” “Blood Drive,” and more. He’s also the writer/director/star of the award-winning short “Centigrade,” soon to be an intense feature film. Cunningham is a huge fan of “The Others” making him a perfect fit for this screening.
Additionally, “The Others” will be preceded by a creepy, unnerving 5-minute short film called “Jim” from local filmmaker, Ben Hurst.
Be sure to arrive at the screening a little early and leave a $10 to $20 donation. This optional donation will get you a delicious pizza from Riggatti’s for you to enjoy during the post-screening discussion or, you can feel free to take it home with you following the movie.
And as always, you can expect a few surprises at this must-see screening of “The Others” so be sure to spread the word by sharing this event page. And, of course, be sure to attend HorrorFest International Film Festival, running October 20th thru 23rd.
