Silver in Sandstone

The Washington County Historical Society will sponsor a lecture at the Old Pioneer Courthouse on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 7:00 pm. Kelton Crooks will speak on “Silver in Sandstone”. A native of Washington County, Kelton will lecture on the unbelievable discovery of silver ore in sandstone, and the publicity campaign by William T. Barbee that turned the small Mormon towns of Harrisburg and Leeds into Bonanza City and Silver Reef in 1876.
