Summer is the time when birds in Zion are busy nesting, raising young, and defending breeding territories. Spend the morning tracking and observing birds in two or more locations along the Virgin River in Zion Canyon. Tracking techniques will include birding by ear, nest finding, sitting quietly in one spot, and talking about breeding-season bird behavior and other aspects of various species’ natural history.

Participants should bring binoculars (or, can borrow), good walking shoes, clothing appropriate for the season and changing conditions, sunscreen, water, snack, and a field notebook and pens/pencils for recording observations, impressions, notes, etc. Limited to 10 participants.

MINIMUM ENROLLMENT: 2 by Tuesday, June 2, 2020, @ 12 noon or class will cancel.

ACTIVITY LEVEL RATING: EASY Flat walking of up to 4 miles. Combined short walks or one continuous hike.
