It’s back for the 2nd time!  Join us for the St. George Last One Standing Race.  We promise, this is no ordinary race. Bring your camping gear because you’re going to need it!

The race will take place on a 6-mile modified Mayors Loop beginning at Confluence Park.  Participants will have 1.5 hours to complete the loop. If the loop is completed within that time the participants will toe-the-line again for the next round on the same exact loop, repeated every 1.5 hours.  No, you can’t start a loop early, so don’t ask. There are a possible 17 loops totalling 102 miles for those most determined souls. The faster participants will have more time to rest before the next round starts, but that strategy could prove detrimental.  If participants cannot finish a loop before the next round starts then they are eliminated from the race. If more than one person in a division makes it to that coveted 17th loop, whoever finishes first on that final loop will win their division. The current individual record is 14 completed loops.  Will that record be shattered this year?

To earn a finisher medal, participants must complete at least one loop (6 miles).  Success is measured by the number of completed laps, not speed, not good looks. At the end of each loop, participants will also be given buttons that can be attached to the medal that signify certain achievements.  Runners who complete all 17 loops will receive a humongus championship belt as their trophy of honor.

NEW this year is the “Wheels Division”.  We understand running isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.  Feel free to join us with any non-motorized wheels (including, but not limited to:  bikes, scooters, roller blades, unicycles, heelys, dollys, strollers, and wagons).  The only catch is that you must complete each loop with your same wheels, meaning you can’t switch from rollerblades one loop to a bike the next.  You also can’t leave your wheels stranded along the loop. Although this division is open to anyone, it is designed for those younger in age or younger in heart, or for your significant other that can’t seem to understand your everlasting love for running.  There’s a special price for those that register for this division along with a “runner”.

CAMPING / PARTICIPANT STAGING AREA – We want you to be comfortable when you’re not on the loop so we’ve blocked off the entire Confluence Park just for you!  This race goes through the night, so bring your tent, chairs, and a cot if you have one. Feel free to make a home away from home during this race.  There is plenty of space, but some real-estate is better than others (first come first serve basis). Your campsite fee is included with your registration.  Once you are eliminated you are free to stay as long as you want and cheer on the others.

FOOD – We will provide a small assortment of drinks and snacks, but we encourage you to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks (coolers welcomed).  We will also provide a pizza dinner after the 2nd loop (appx 9:30pm). Plenty of ice will be available. We can obviously control the heat, so we’re going to make sure it’s as hot as possible for you.    Coolers of ice-water will be available at St. James Park, appx halfway around the loop.
