
July’s theme is “Genre Exploration: Science Fiction”
This week’s film is Brad Bird’s lovingly animated take on violence and heroism: The Iron Giant.
“In the small town of Rockwell, Maine in October 1957, a giant metal machine befriends a nine-year-old boy and ultimately finds its humanity by unselfishly saving people from their own fears and prejudices.”
- Showtime is 6 pm and after each screening, all will be invited to go into the downstairs conference room where a discussion of the film will be held. Meals from various local restaurants will be available for purchase at the discussions. Various scholars and critics will also be attending the screenings & discussions.
