Voyager Lecture Series: Geology of Southern Utah with Dr. Cari Johnson

September 26 - 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

canyon

From ancient Sahara-like dunes to vanished seaways, discover how our iconic red rocks formed over millions of years. Dr. Cari Johnson will guide you through the fascinating story of Southern Utah’s dramatic landscapes.

Dr. Cari Johnson is a Professor of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Utah and the 2021 recipient of the Dickinson Medal from the Society for Sedimentary Geology. Dr. Johnson’s research is broadly based on sedimentary basin analysis. More recent work has centered on anthropogenic sedimentary systems such as Lake Powell reservoir sediment and deltas and energy transitions, including carbon management and sedimentary geothermal resources.

There will be a social hour at 6:30 p.m. with beverages and snacks to mingle with like-minded friends.
