Space: Close Up and Personal. The featured guest speaker is a meteor astronomer who tracks down the rocks that travel the space between the planets and end up hitting Earth. Dr. Peter Jenniskens is a senior research scientist with the SETI Institute and NASA Ames Research Center in California. He has traveled the globe to guide the recovery of meteorites from small asteroids that were observed in space prior to impacting the Earth’s atmosphere. He also has deployed a network of photographic cameras to investigate the origin of our meteorites in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
